Meet Our Minister

Our Pastor, Rev. Lynn Osborne, has been a student of Science of Mind since age 13.  Growing up in Los Angeles, she was blessed with a multitude of churches and teachers who gave her the opportunity to gain a very strong foundation in this teaching.  She took her first Science of Mind Class at age 18 and was privileged to hear Dr. Raymond Charles Barker during that time as well.  Rev. Lynn was a member of the Redondo Beach Church of Religious Science for two years before moving to Palm Desert.  She took SOM Classes with Rev. Yvette Neuman and Dr. John Hefferlin, who were teaching in the Palm Desert/Palm Springs area and then, in 1974, joined with Dr. Tom Costa, who was starting up a church.

During her ten years with Dr. Tom, Rev. Lynn took all the Science of Mind classes required for Ministerial License, became Assistant Minister for the Palm Desert Church of Religious Science, and was ordained in 1982.  During this time, she also attended College of the Desert, taking classes in Religions of the World, Peer Counseling, Sociology, Philosophy, Psychology, Perceptions on Death and Dying, and Public Speaking.  Her Fourth Year (Ministerial) Teacher was Dr. Scotti Dole.  Rev. Lynn expresses deep gratitude for the wealth of teachers she was able to learn from as well as the knowledge she has gained through education and support in recovery programs.  She worked twelve years at the Betty Ford Center under the direction of Franciscan Nun, Geneva Berns, and later worked seven years at Woodlands Outpatient Treatment Center in Port Angeles.

Rev. Lynn is an excellent spiritual counselor and credits the combining of Science of Mind Principles with 12-Step Recovery methods as being the perfect formula for healing.

Rev. Lynn was also a Religious Science Youth Advisor from 1978–1983, forming the Youth Group at the Palm Desert Church and attending all the Youth Camps during that time.

In 1995, Rev. Lynn and her husband, Dan Cummings, moved to the Olympic Peninsula and within months she founded the Sequim Church of Religious Science, later renamed Sequim Center for Spiritual Living. She believes the spiritual consciousness that has developed through the high-principled members of our congregation is a beautiful and loving gift to our community. She finds great joy in being part of this consciousness.
